What You'll Do

Create a commercial poster design utilizing Adobe Illustrator's 3D Tools and settings.

What You'll Learn

How to apply 3D tools to 2D paths within Adobe Illustrator.

Step 1

Take one of the images you designed in the previous exercises, then:

Design a product or event promotion, single-page layout using 3D art. While developing your designs, feel free to share on Pronto! for live feedback and questions.

The layout dimensions should be designed at 8x10".

For research:

Explore Behance's Galleries and explore designers using 3D graphics within their print designs Links to an external site..

Spend a little time reflecting on how they achieved specific results.

What type of items are you seeing designers choosing to convert to 3D?
What kinds of surface applications are you seeing?
How are 3D objects used in compositions?
What kinds of color choices do you see?

Take notes and use these notes to assist you in making decisions for this design.

Step 2

Submission Instructions: Please do the following in a single post.

Poster JPEG: Share your poster design on this discussion board, and embed this as a JPG resized. to be 600 pixels wide.
- To export a jpg for the web use File > Export > Export for Screens (Legacy). Change the file type to JPEG and Width to 600, be sure height and width are locked so you don't distort your image. Image of settings thumbnail for export
Poster PDF attachment: In addition to embedding a jpeg into the discussion, attach your complete file as a PDF to your assignment submission (full-size).
Share Swatches: Embed a GIF or JPEG of your color scheme. Use this Illustrator file to add your swatches and share: Color_Swatches.ai Download Color_Swatches.ai
Share your process: In not more than two short paragraphs share how you made your decisions when designing this poster. How did your notes and findings from the questions below impact your design decisions?
