đź‘‹ Welcome to ASL 1, Section 5270
Mondays & Wednesdays • 5:00–7:00 PM
Welcome to ASL 1! I’m truly excited to begin this journey with you. Before our first class meeting, please take a moment to read through the full course syllabus. It includes everything you need to know about required materials, grading, assignments, expectations, and how to succeed in this course.
Our first day of class is especially important, and I strongly encourage you to attend. I will walk you through the course structure, and interpreters will be present to ensure full access for everyone.
đź“„ Syllabus Acknowledgment
After reviewing the syllabus, please locate the Acknowledge Signature Form on the final page. Download it, complete it, and submit the PDF in Canvas.
If anything is unclear or you have questions, feel free to bring them to our first class meeting. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
📝 Your First Assignment: Reflective Summary #1 (RS#1)
Your first assignment is Reflective Summary #1, which includes the American Deaf Culture Quiz.
Before starting the quiz, please read the RS#1 instructions carefully in Canvas. You’ll find the quiz under Assignments in the course module.
Please complete it before the first day of class.
Don’t worry if you miss many questions — this quiz is designed to introduce you to ASL, Deaf culture, history, and linguistic concepts. Mistakes simply show you’re in the right place to learn.
And don’t stress about the grade: You will receive full points for this assignment.
