Pass‐NoPass (P/NP)
You may take this class P/NP. You must decide before the deadline and add the option online in your portal or file the P/NP form with Admissions and Records. With a grade of C or better, you will get a P.
Once you decide to go for P/NP, you cannot change back to a letter grade. If you take this course as part of a certificate program, you can probably still take the class P/NP. Check with a counselor to be sure!
Instructor Announcements
The instructor will post announcements on the “Instructor Announcements” page in Canvas throughout the semester. Canvas notifies students according to their preferred Notification Preferences when the instructor creates an Announcement.
To check your notification settings; please click on ‘Account’ in the upper left-hand corner when you are logged into Canvas, then click on ‘Notifications’. If you are logged into Canvas, the communication settings link should take you straight to the page.
I highly recommend that you update your user settings to make sure that you receive the following right away (Click the check mark – notify me right away):
- Announcement: This is how I will communicate with the entire class
- Submission comment: This is how I will give your personal feedback on your assignments
- Conversation message: This is where I send students private messages through Canvas
Feel free to change the settings on any others based on your personal preferences.
Class Meetings
We will have regularly scheduled LIVE Zoom yoga sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30-9:00 am. Participation is flexible, and students have the option of doing pre-recorded or written sessions on their own time if they can't make a live session. All other class assignments and materials will be done asynchronously, students can access and complete them at their own pace while still adhering to the due dates. Please see more info under Options for Participation below.
Options for Participation
Since this is a movement-based class, participating in a regular yoga practice is critical for success in this course and is 50% of your grade. Your options are as follows.
- Attend LIVE Zoom Practices on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7:30-9:00 am
- Follow the pre-recorded videos, created from the live practices, and upload your personal video
LIVE Zoom Instructions
If attending the LIVE Zoom Practices, at some point the instructor will ask you to type your name or answer a question in the chat for attendance. You will also be required to participate in polls or breakout rooms on occasion for credit. Please have your video "on" but the microphone muted unless you have a question. If you are having technical/internet issues or other issues with this, please email your instructor privately about your concerns. I will enter your participation scores for the assignment after each class session. If you are consistently late or leaving early or absent during check-ins, points will be deducted from your score.
Pre-recorded Instructions
If you are doing recorded videos, you will be required to turn in a time-lapse video of you doing the practices. You will attach the time-lapse video on the participation assignment by the due date. Include a description of the video you chose to do in the submission comments. For example, the name of the video on YouTube or the date of the Zoom yoga practice session, etc. Instructions for recording time-lapse videos are in the assignment details.
Make-up Policy
You may make up to THREE absences per semester. Make-ups can be done by completing a recorded or written option (in the participation assignment details) and submitting a time-lapse video of that particular assignment in which you received a zero or "missed" class/participation points. Emailed make-ups are not accepted. This means that if you missed a live Zoom class or missed the deadline for turning in a recorded video you have up to three opportunities to make these up late. The deadline to turn in three make-ups is Friday, May 9th.
Attendance
Students who fail to attend the first class (face-to-face courses) or do not log in to an online class after the second day of the semester will be dropped from the class. It is strongly advised that if you need to miss more than one class/homework deadline in a row you contact me to avoid being dropped from the class.

Standards of Conduct
Students who register in SRJC classes are required to abide by the SRJC Student Conduct Standards. Violation of the Standards is the basis for referral to the Vice President of Student Services or dismissal from class or from the College. See the Student Code of Conduct page.
Collaborating on or copying tests or homework in whole or in part will be considered an act of academic dishonesty and result in a grade of 0 for that test or assignment. I encourage students to share information and ideas, but not their work. See these links on Plagiarism:

Access and Accommodations
It is the mission of Santa Rosa Junior College to support inclusive learning environments. If there are aspects of the instruction or design of this course that result in barriers to your inclusion or to an accurate assessment of achievement—such as time-limited exams, inaccessible web content, or the use of non-captioned videos—please notify the instructor as soon as possible. Students are also welcome to contact the Disability Resources Department Disability Resources(DRD). DRD is a resource for students that provides authorization for academic accommodations, training, and access to assistive technology and collaborates on strategies for academic success. Students with disabilities who believe they need accommodations in this class are encouraged to contact , as soon as possible, to better ensure such accommodations are implemented in a timely fashion.
Other Important Policies and Practices
Right to Privacy
All students have the right to learn freely and safely in both the physical classroom and the virtual classroom. Students may not share course contents, materials, recordings, or any other information containing representations of their classmates in writing, text, image, or video. This includes emails between students, posts to discussion boards, video threads containing signed dialogue, and any other media that contain the efforts of students who engage with the course (See Acts of Misconduct C., D., and E.). This especially applies to Zoom cloud recordings which are only stored on a temporary basis for the specific purpose of content review as deemed to be of benefit for all those enrolled in this course, and which are only available in TechConnect Zoom in Canvas. Students also may not discuss the performance of their classmates outside of the classroom. Violations of student privacy are subject to disciplinary action, with specifics to be handled in accordance with the appropriate SRJC policies and procedures.
Netiquette, or Why Is It Harder to Be Polite Online?
Netiquette refers to using common courtesy in online communication. All members of the class are expected to follow netiquette in all course communications. Use these guidelines:
- Use capital letters sparingly. THEY LOOK LIKE SHOUTING.
- Forward emails only with a writer's permission.
- Be considerate of others' feelings and use language carefully.
- Cite all quotations, references, and sources (otherwise, it is plagiarism).
- Use humor carefully. It is hard to "read" tone; sometimes humor can be misread as criticism or personal attack. Feel free to use emoticons like :) for a smiley face to let others know you are being humorous.
- Use complete sentences and standard English grammar to compose posts. Write in proper paragraphs. Review work before submitting it.
- Text speak, such as "ur" for "your" or "ru" for "are you" etc., is only acceptable when texting.
All academic papers and submissions should be void of text abbreviations and include proper capitalization, spelling, and grammar. For every uncapitalized "i" or use of a text abbreviation, there will be a one-point deduction on your submission.
