Discussion 11 - Buying Habits

Purpose: This discussion addresses these module goals:

• Compare the different types of store retail facilities
• Outline the process of online shopping

This week textbook reading discusses distribution channels and discusses different types of retailers, such as store, nonstore,internet, telemarketing, vending machines, mall kiosks, and direct selling.  Using information from this week's reading answer the following questions:

Where do you do your shopping?  Do you shop online or at stores?  What stores do you frequent and why? (brand, location, price)  Are there certain items you would buy online and other items you only buy in person? What products or services do you ask friends for referrals?  Do you buy used items anywhere? (ebay, craigslist, garage sales, thrift stores) What would you buy used and what would you buy new?  Where do you buy your food?
