Meet Your Instructor
Hello, Class!
My name is Ameya Bela. I will be your Yoga Teacher for KFIT 6 / 6/1 / 6.2 / 6.3.
Are you excited to take yoga this Semester? Or maybe you are apprehensive or nervous? Please know that many of the students taking class with you are also new to yoga, and many students have injuries or restrictions. If you are already experienced with yoga, you can be a support to your fellow classmates who are new! It is my job as the instructor to meet each of you right where you are.... so come as you are. Every pose we do will have different variations so that you can find both comfort and challenge. I am here to introduce you to the experience of yoga and help you build confidence in your yoga practice. This class will be fun and challenging, and your only job is to "show up" and "trust the process".
A little bit about me.... I began teaching yoga 20 years ago. Yoga is a passion of mine, and I love to share it. I have my Masters in Kinesiology, and I am certified as an E-RYT 500 (Master Level) Yoga Instructor. I head up the Yoga Teacher Certificate program here at SRJC Petaluma, so I certify students who desire to either become yoga teachers, or who take part to honor the self, develop personally, and to gain a deeper understanding of yogic teachings. I am also a professor of Kinesiology (exercise science). But enough about that, you are each here to enjoy the practice of yoga, so the experience of yoga is what I want you to gain. So let's get out of our heads and get into our bodies...
Let's do this!
~Ameya
