REST DAY YOGA CLASS - when you need gentle yoga
- Due No Due Date
- Points None
Participation
This is a future video that you will do later in class, BUT it is a restful yoga class. If you need an easier yoga class you can use this video and submit a time lapse replay of THIS video instead of the more active yoga that is for the day. If you choose to use this video please leave me a comment and explain the situation so I can give you credit for that day. Please only do this video when necessary and continue with your active practice throughout the Semester. If you need a gentler practice than the practices I have provided for a more extended period of time please message or email me at cbela@santarosa.edu and I will point you in the right direction.
I have created a personal library of yoga classes on Youtube for this class! I hope you enjoy them.
Classes include stories of Hindu Mythology, and humbly honor the roots of yoga. I acknowledge that yoga poses are named after the characters in Hindu Mythology. The asana practice (the movement practice involving yoga postures) can be interpreted as a dance that tells a story. In each yoga video, I will celebrate, honor, and bring to life an archetype from Hindu Mythology. Each archetype reveres a pattern in nature and an existing or potential pattern in each of us. The practice of story telling is a way for the teacher to share, pass on, and acknowledge cultural teachings, and to honor the teachers that came before.
Be sure to honor your limits in yoga, and know that often I will give several options for certain poses so you can choose the option that does not require you to strain, but rather the option that feels the very best! Yoga is not meant to be competitive, rather it is meant to serve your body, mind, and spirit. I hope you enjoy today's video.
We acknowledge the Santa Rosa Junior College Santa Rosa campus is on the traditional territory and homelands of the Pomo People, and the Petaluma Campus is on the traditional territory and homelands of the Coast Miwok People, and honor with gratitude the land itself and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations.
Today's REST DAY Yoga Video is:
MAKE SPACE FOR MIRACLES (Ganesha) - rest day!!!
