Discussion 2 - IWC Wage Orders

The California Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) Wage Orders regulate wages, hours, and working conditions.  Employers must comply with the IWC Wage Order and California and Federal labor laws applicable to their business or industry.

Objectives

As an HR professional, it is important that you inherently understand that employees have right under California State Guidelines. The purpose of this discussion is to allow you another opportunity to learn about Industrial Wage Orders (IWOs) and how they will impact your work, both now and in the future.

1. 1. Explain what an IWO is, and
   2. How you would communicate its importance to a department manager.
