As we have discussed, a key part of the scientific process is exploration and discovery. This allows scientists to observe the natural world and find ideas that are worth testing.
So far, we have emphasized doing this through the nature journaling process, but there is another key method of exploration and discovery: Exploring the Scientific Literature. There is no way that any one person can explore all of the relevant parts of a system, no matter how dedicated, talented or hardworking. The scientific community relies on shared knowledge and information via peer reviewed journals. These are journals where an expert in a subject ( the ''peer'' in the field) reviews a research article and evaluates it for errors or flaws. We will be working with this type of literature in our Scientific Claims Assessment.
For our Microgreens Project, you are going to read the final Microgreens Write Up from last semester's students in order to expand your observations, exploration and discovery about microgreens. I selected 3 different students' write ups. You need to
Assignment: Sign up for one of these papers - submit on Canvas AND bring notes to class.

- If all the slots are taken for a particular paper, sign up for a different one.
- Answer the following questions
- What was the hypothesis?
- What were their results and conclusions? (1-2 sentence summary)
- What are 2 hypotheses that they suggested for this coming semester?
- What is one hypothesis that you came up with after reading their paper?
- Submit through Canvas, and bring your notes to class for our discussion.
