Overview
The purpose of the Padlet is to relate the class material to your personal life and the world around you. The class is about media and we are surrounded and immersed in media most of our day. Making these connections increases your awareness and your media literacy. By the end of the course, you will have a visual journal of your media exploration.
To complete this assignment...
Use the appropriate included link to access your Padlet. The class has been randomly divided into groups to reduce the number of posts to read. If you don't already know, find your group name in your Canvas profile; it will be listed with this class and section number. Please make a note of your group name. Posts included on other group Padlets need to be moved to the correct place. Contact the instructor if this happens. Group names: Print, Audio, Visual, Digital, Ad/PR.
Every post contains your text and either accompanying visuals and/or audio. You can include pictures, graphics, videos, trailers, memes, giphys, cover art, etc. Make your post interesting. Text needs to be at least 5 paragraphs and use correct grammar, paragraph structure, and spelling.
How to Enter Your Journal Post Here for Grading
To submit your post for grading:
- Enter the URL link to your Padlet to allow for in-app review.
- Make sure to submit the assignment after pasting the URL. This records your entry into the gradebook and notifies the instructor.
Unit 4B Journal Topic
We're going to discover the achievements of people we haven't previously known.
Through a search, find a person who has made a significant effect on the development of the media your group includes. This is specific to your group. For instance, the Print group would include people significant to books, magazines, or newspapers. The Audio Group would include those significant to radio and recordings. The Visual Group includes people significant to photography, movies, or television. The Digital Group includes computers, the Internet, gaming, and social media. The Ad?PR Group includes Advertising and Public Relations.
The person needs to be previously unknown to most people; in other words, they are not commonly known. Do not include someone from the textbook or lecture material. The purpose is to highlight an "unsung" hero to the development of media.
Once you have chosen the person, include:
- A brief biography of their life and death
- Their background
- Their achievement(s)
- Their personal lives and struggles
- One incident or personality trait your found interesting
No two posts can include the same person. Make sure to read the other posts and choose someone new.
The audio/visual can include their picture, their invention/development, a video, or audio recording.
Padlet Links
Make sure to verify in your profile which group you're in. If you open the links, the first post is a list of students in the group.
