2. Number your answers so I can give you proper credit. This is a writing assignment worth 6 points
3. Answer the following questions, each answer needs to be about a paragraph long:

1. What were the major religions that existed in Arabia prior to the rise of Islam? What are some of the ideas from these religions that were adopted by Islam?

2. Why did the teachings of Mohammed upset the powerful tribal leaders that controlled Mecca?

3. Why did Islam split into two main branches? What is the main difference the two branches?
