Due June 30 at 11:59 pm. Read chapters 4-6 in your textbook, all documents, review your notes and watch all the videos to complete this assignment.

• For this assignment you are required to view a website from a museum collection of Ancient American historical art (Native Cultures before 1500 CE). Try a university museum or a major collection like the Smithsonian, or one of the large museums in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, London, Paris, Berlin, etc.

1. Follow the homework guidelines and sample found in the Class Orientation Module and write well-developed paragraphs. Your total assignment should be between 500-800 words.
2. Number your answers so I can give you proper credit. This is a writing assignment worth 10 points.
3. Spend some time learning about the time period and the collection and then answer the following questions, each answer needs to be about a paragraph long:

1. Select three pieces of art or artifacts from the museum and briefly describe how each is a good example of the traditions and culture of the Ancient Americas. (You may attach an image of each piece)

2. What can a museum collection tell us about a culture that a historical document cannot?

3. How can viewing the actual pieces created by these ancient cultures help you understand their historical context?

Questions about Ancient Persia:

4. What were some of the major ideas that the Persian Empire inherited from earlier Mesopotamian cultures? How did these ideas contribute to efficient and stable administration?

5. What was distinctive about Zoroastrianism? In what ways did it differ from Hinduism and Buddhism?

Expected Learning Outcomes:

Students will analyze a museum collection focusing on the cultures of the Ancient Americas and answer critical thinking questions.

• There is no time limit but you must complete the assignment by the due date and you only have 1 attempt. 
• Make sure you follow the homework guidelines and that you paste your work onto Canvas or you may upload a file.
• Remember that if you turn this homework in late you lose a point for each day it is late, up to 3 pts.
