Configure Your Settings in Canvas

Canvas allows users to control how communications are received and to add a profile picture to their account.  Canvas can also be accessed using a mobile device, with the Canvas App.

Please complete the following three tasks:

  1. Change your notification settings
  2. Add a profile picture to your Canvas account
  3. Download the Canvas App

Notification Settings

It is important for students to update their notification settings in Canvas.

Students are required to have an active notification for Announcements and Conversation Messages.

These notification settings will determine how important course information is communicated to you.  Please note that you cannot change your Email address in Canvas.  If you do, it will be changed back to the Email that is in Web Advisor.  However, you can add an additional Email address for notifications.  The video and documentation below will show you how to customize your notification settings:

Add a Profile Picture

When you are participating in a course online, it is recommended that you add a profile picture to your account.  This only has to be done once.  This will help your classmates and your instructor get to know you a little better by being able to put a "face with a name."  The video and documentation below will show you how to customize your notification settings:

Canvas Mobile App

Canvas can be accessed and used on mobile devices.  Simply download the Canvas app, select Santa Ana College as the college, then enter your Web Advisor User ID / Password to connect.  If Santa Ana College is not available as a choice, the URL to enter is: http://rsccd.instructure.com.  The video and documentation below will show you how to access and use Canvas through the mobile app: Will Canvas Work On My Mobile Devices?
