Energy Movement in an Ecosystem

Food Chains 

Energy enters an ecosystem in the form of sunlight and is captured by producers.  I'm going to use an example of a terrestrial (land) ecosystem in the video, but these basics apply to aquatic systems as well.   Once the producers capture energy and convert it into chemical energy in the form of the chemical bonds in glucose, the energy can begin to be captured (eaten) by consumers.   This is often portrayed as a food chain.
