Field Trip to Bouverie Preserve

We will be going to the Bouverie Preserve in the Sonoma Valley. This is owned by Audubon Canyon Ranch with 500+ acres of diverse native ecosystems including oak woodlands, mixed evergreen forests, riparian woodlands, chaparral, and grasslands.
The preserve has done research on fire ecology, studying the impact of controlled burns, and post burn recovery. We will have a chance to explore the preserve with Brian Peterson, a fire ecologist.

- Arrive at Bouverie at 2:30 PM
- Arrive back at SRJC at 5:30 PM

Clothing: Wear comfortable walking shoes (not sandals!) and long pants (ticks and poison oak protection).
Assignment;
After our fieldtrip you will need to submit a 350 word or more reflection with your responses to what we learned at Bouverie, as well as what we have learned about fire ecology in class.
