Extra Credit PALS: Study Group

PALS Program 

The Peer Assisted Learning Specialist program is designed to help support student success.  I have recruited a former Biology 10 student, Judy Hogan,  who did well in the course to come back and provide tutoring services. These sessions are only available to students in my Bio 10 sections- your own private tutor!

PALS Study Sessions

These sessions will be once a week in person. Judy and I will start the sessions together and then she will continue assisting you with whatever material is relevant.  Examples of topics include: going over study guide questions, reviewing for exam, helping with lab write ups. 

• Mondays from 10:45- 12 noon in Baker 1805.
• This is the conference room two doors down from my office.  

These sessions are available to any of you, at any point in the semester. But  in order to emphasize how important I think they are, I will give extra credit to students who attend at least 4 sessions, with at least one of those sessions occurring before the 2nd  lecture exam. 

Assignment

• 10 points extra credit: Student attended 4 times with at least one of those sessions was 1/30, 2/6 or 2/13
• 7.5 points extra credit: Student attended 4 times - but didn't make the deadline above
• 5 points extra credit: Student attended 3 times during the semester and didn't make the deadline
• 2.5 points extra credit: Student attended 2 times during the semester and didn't make the deadline. 

Note: the only way I can make Canvas give you extra credit is to make the assignment worth zero points and then give you the points.
