About Me

Some say the worst students are the best teachers. I like to think that might be me.

I have had an interesting and meandering journey in education.  I transferred between different universities as an undergrad, and finally landed at an interesting technical school in the northeast that allowed me to drink up technology and design when I returned to school to earn my MFA in Imaging Arts. I still love making art, designing and helping people out who simply 'don't get' technology. My ability to pivot, shift and evolve in the design world has allowed me to live in Chicago, Houston, Rochester NY, Dallas, Los Angeles and now Santa Rosa. These cities have fed my soul during my developmental journey as a creative human being. I'd love to share more about my journey another time, when we have some one on one office hours or perhaps during a Q&A session and you can ask me as many questions as you'd like.

Here are some other things about me: I'm a twin. I'm ethnically 25% Lithuanian Jew, 25% Irish Catholic and I was raised in the south. I'm an avid gardner. I lose sleep over the amount of plastic I use each day. I always strive to do better.

I tell you all this because we are here, in a classroom, and we will be learning many different things, but we should not forget to learn a little about ourselves along the way.

Throughout this course, I want you to remember that this course and your choice to major in design is just one small step in your journey of learning and knowledge in life, but it's a big step. I want to acknowledge that I don't always know exactly what you (my students) are going through or where you are going, but I am so thrilled to be part of your journey. I want to be your support, and I will be reaching out to you if I notice you are disappearing from the class. Please let me know if I can do anything to assist you or if you need assistance beyond the classroom and I can connect you with resources to support you.

Let's Learn About You

Now that I've shared a little about me, I'm going to be asking you a few thing so I can get to know you.

Take this ungraded survey to share a little about yourself and your journey.
