Introducing Yourself: Nice to Meet you

When we meet people for the first time, we often "shake hands" like in this picture. Here is an example conversation of how to introduce yourself.

A: Hello. My name is Sara.

B: Hi. I'm Irena.

A: Nice to meet you, Irena.

B: Nice to meet you, too.

Personal Information Questions:

When we meet people, we sometimes share personal information. Personal information questions can help us "get to know" people.

Here are some examples of common personal information questions:

What is your name? Your last name?
Where are you from?
Where were you born?
What is your job (occupation)?
Are you married? Single?
How many people are in your family?
Is your family here with you?

1. What is your name? Your last name? My name is Kelly. My last name is Farrell.
2. Where are you from? I am from California.
3. Where were you born? I was born in Southern California (near Disneyland!).
4. What is your job? What do you do? I am a teacher.
5. Are you married? Single? Yes, I am married.
6. How many people are in your family? There are five people in my family.
7. Is your family here with you? Yes, they are.
