Working with hues and tints

You don't have to go with pure fully-saturated colors unless you are trying to achieve a particular effect. Here's an example of full saturation in action. It certainly catches the attention but isn't exactly subtle!

Instead, experiment with different saturation, tint or shade settings. These can result in some very tasteful color combinations.
