S18 Assignment 9: Create an in-progress design with all content for Mudcat! (15 points)
- Due Apr 17, 2018 by 11:59pm
- Points 15
- Submitting a file upload
- File Types jpg and jpeg
Project 1: Refine your rough layouts in preparation for the final design (due next week)!
Apply the principles of Contrast and Alignment and Navigation Rules to the Mudcat design you've been working on. The final design is due next week. You will receive feedback on your rough layout before the final is due!
You should use the following content:
Logo/tagline: use the wordmark/logo/tagline "American Roots Music" you developed for the previous assignment
- Logo/word mark (designed by you): Mudcat
- Heading or tagline: American Roots Music
Navigation: create a strong/organized/clean navigation bar (based on last week's assignments). Needs to have:
- User-friendly placement on the page
- Readable labels
- An active page indicator/rollover/color for the Home page
Text Content: Use the following content:
Text paragraph:
Danny ‘Mudcat’ Dudeck is an internationally known gospel and bluesman. Mudcat continues the traditions of the early blues pioneers while adding his own Mudcat edge, resulting in one of Atlanta’s greatest treasures. He regularly performs his Bayou-baked chicken-party revues at Atlanta’s premier blues club, Northside Tavern.
Quotes (Pick ONE of these three):
“Kept me on my feet -- I just couldn't sit down.”
“Great songwriter. Great lyrics. Good energy.”
“A devilishly spontaneous ragtime blues band.”
Photo: add at least one photo. A large background photo could work well but make sure the text is readable if you put it over the photo! (Consider using a semi-transparent box when putting text over a photo). Don't use too many photos! Keep it simple.
Contrast/Alignment:
Make sure you demonstrate the contrast/alignment rules discussed this week!
- Strong focal point not conflicting elements
- Color/font/size contrast to create hierarchy and visual interest
- Strong edge connection between the content. (Use guidelines to make sure edges line up.)
- Avoid centered images and text.
- Check that you have enough negative space around text/images... don't jam text up against margins or photos!
Submitting your assignment:
Save your layout as a jpeg and upload it using the dropbox for this assignment.
Make sure you retain the original dimensions for the project: 1280x1024 (landscape orientation).
