          “Do not go gentle into that good night,
          Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
          Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

1. Online courses typically have a highed failure and/or dropout rate. Classes are Monday through Saturday!

2. To succeed you must be highly motivated and able to allocate substantial time for reading, studying, and reviewing.

3. You are urged not to begin assignments until after the class begins. There may be an optional "face-to-face" orientation class. Check with your professor.

4. You are also urged to purchase the textbook and workbook NOW and begin studying and preparing for exams. Use the following link to: Locate and order textbooks online at the SRJC bookstore Links to an external site..

5. Due to the more difficult nature of online courses, you may wish to take it for credit/no credit.

6. Please note that while there is often wide latitude, there are actual times and dates you will need to be "online!" For example exams are generally on Saturdays, during any two-hour block you wish, but must be completed sometime on Saturdays. Other deadlines may be daily, such as responding to the "Thought-Provoking Questions." Review thoroughly the rest of Course Basics, and 99% of your questions should be answered.

This strict policy has many reasons, some of which include:

1. Too many students enrolled in my online classes who were not technically astute or computer savvy.

2. Others were unaware of the many differences in taking an online course from a "face-to-face" course.

1. Please note that if problems of either a discipline or academic nature arise you may be required to attend an office appointment. Failure to attend would be automatic grounds for course failure.

2. During summer term courses, you must be available for "time stamped" online exams during ANY Monday through Saturday. Whenever possible, exams are scheduled on Saturdays.

3. Students who enroll for this course but do not officially complete the "New Class Check-In Discussion Board Post" by 11:59 PM the day after the offical start of classes, will be assumed not interested and dropped. There are no exceptions

read.gif   Computer Basics And Savvy Necessary

1. To be successful in this course, students must have home access to a modern computer, the Internet through an ISP connection, and email capabilities. It is important to know how to send PDF attachments using "Microsoft Word" or other such word processing software as well.

2. Students need a savvy understanding of how computers work and how to use the Internet reasonably well. The professor does not provide computer training.

3. It is highly recommended that a student review students resources at SRJC's Distance Education website. Particularly useful, is the "What You Need, And What You Need To Know About Online Requirements" site.
