Debate Discussion

Based on the ideas that your group shared in the Debate Worksheet, and your own ideas, POST to the discussion below arguing that a particular party is responsible for what happened to Bachmann.  Your 150-word initial post is due by Monday, July 3rd, 11 pm.

The position that you argue depends on the order in which you post to the discussion (it doesn't matter if you made that argument on the worksheet--this is just an exercise to explore different arguments):

• First poster: Argue that Bachmann is responsible.
• Second poster: Argue that the casinos are responsible.
• Third poster: Argue that Bachmann’s family is responsible.
• Fourth poster: Argue that the government is responsible.

PLEASE NOTE: This is the first time I have used a debate in an online class, so I’m a bit worried about organizing it.  However, regardless of whether or not you get confused about who’s supposed to argue what in the debate, the purpose is for you to consider the debate from all sides, and find and present evidence (quotes or paraphrase from the texts) and reasoning to support your ideas.  You’ll use the ideas that come out of this debate in your Bachmann essay.

Return an COMMENT at least 3 times (so that the debate can develop) by Wednesday, July 5th, 11 pm. REMEMBER, this is just an exercise to generate ideas.  Be CIVIL!!
