POST a response to the prompt below by Monday, 9/12, 10 pm.
RESPOND to all of your group members' posts by Wednesday, 9/13, 10 pm. I will be responding to your posts during this period as well.
PROMPT: At the group meetings this week, we will decide on which advertisement the group will be analyzing for your Rhetorical Analysis Essays. The purpose of having you work in groups on the same ad is so that you can share ideas and improve the content of your final essay.
For this discussion, review the ad that the group has agreed upon (it should still be posted in our Ads and Ideas discussion), and write a tentative thesis for the Rhetorical Analysis Essay. Then, taking one concept from the thesis, write a BODY PARAGRAPH for the essay.
The paragraph should focus on one rhetorical strategy that you see the ad using to support its overall argument. The paragraph (like the body paragraphs in the sample Rhetorical Analysis Essay I posted) needs to do the following:
- Identify the strategy you see the author using in a topic sentence,
- Offer specific quoted examples of it from the text,
- Explain how the strategy works or how it is meant to impact the reader,
- And explain how the strategy supports the author's main argument.
Finally, PLEASE review the Rhetorical Analysis Essay Prompt, the Rhetorical Analysis Overview video, the sample rhetorical analysis, and the other resources I've posted so that you put together a paragraph that meets the requirements of the essay. All of these things are posted in Week 2.
