POST: Respond to the prompt below with a link to an advertisement and a minimum 200-word analysis of the ad by Friday, 9/2, by 10 pm.
RESPOND: Comment on each of your group members' posts by Tuesday, 9/6, by 10 pm. Be sure to watch each video, and form opinions about which of the ads posted by your group you would like to analyze for the Rhetorical Analysis. This will be the subject of our meeting.
PROMPT: Last week you practiced analysis of a campaign advertisement on the sample ads that I posted. This week, post a campaign ad (from the current campaign) that you've found on your own. Just doing a youtube search for "Campaign ads 2016," will give you a decent number of results. You can do the same search in Google Videos.
Cut and paste a link to the video into your post, and below it offer us some rough ideas about your analysis of the ad:
- Who is the intended audience?
- What is the overall argument that is being made?
- Which rhetorical strategies do you see the ad using?
- Which rhetorical strategies are most pronounced?
In our group meeting, we will decide which of the ads offered here we would like the group to analyze for the Rhetorical Analysis Essay. Then we will move into a more focused analysis of the selected ad. Remember, in the end, everyone in the group will be analyzing the same ad, but each group member will write their own essay.
