DISCUSS: Return by Tuesday, 9/27, 10 pm to comment on two other posts.
PROMPT:
One of my goals for this week is for you to think carefully about how you read and what your reading experiences have been like. Reading carefully will be a major skill for the rest of the course, and this week I'll introduce some strategies for reading that I want you to try. But first, I want you to do a bit of reflection. For this discussion, think about your evolution as a reader, not just in your earliest days, but up through high school, and the present. Write in response to the following questions:
- What supported you in your literacy development?
- What barriers have you faced at various stages in your life as a reader?
- What were times you felt like an insider/outsider in relation to reading?
