For the In-Text Citations in MLA Format assignment you are going to use the items you created in the Works Cited in MLA Format assignment and complete 3 different types of in-text citations. You will use the 3 sources you have been using throughout the MLA Plagiarism & Citing Sources module. Decide which source you would like to use for each of the 3 types of in-text citations below, but there should be 3 different sources for each of these.
- Create an in-text citation where you are introducing the author(s) and follow with a direct quote.
- Create an in-text citation where you include a quote (without introducing the authors).
- Create an in-text citation where you summarize or paraphrase the work of the author.
All 3 of these items should be short and brief and must include the in-text citations. You will need to look up and follow the rules for in-text citations based on how you are citing your source (for example, your in-text citation will look different if you have already introduced your author versus when you include a quote without introducing the author). Each of the 3 items from the Works Cited in MLA Format assignment must be included here; the order does not matter, but you must use all 3.
You will be graded on the following:
- Introduction of authors and in-text citation
- Direct quote and in-text citation
- Summarizing or paraphrasing and in-text citation
