Study Guide for Midterm #1 on 2/24

On 2/24 in class, you will answer one of the following questions:

 

1.  Describe the effects that the Industrial Revolution had on women in the United States from Lowell through the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire.  Be sure to address:  the effect industrialization had on working class and middle class women, each groups’ living and working conditions, and how women tried to improve society at this time.   

3.  Describe the lives of women in the West in the late 19^th century.  Be sure to describe the lives of women Homesteaders, Native American and Chinese women.  

 

You won't know which question you will answer, so you need to be prepared for both questions.     Thorough answers will refer to class lectures, assigned readings, and the Class Notes.    You can use outlines for this exam, I will provide the outline sheets that you can use.   Be sure to get a Green/Blue Book at the bookstore and bring it to class on 2/24.

 

This will be worth a possible 50 points.
