Reading Assignments: Literary Criticism and Theory and Literary Analysis (Journal Articles)

Within literature, fiction is used to convey aspects of society. Works of literature are analyzed to locate elements of importance. Many different interpretations of the same work may be published, as they often extract different textual evidence to create a unique argument. 

Writing Assignment: Discussion Board

You have recently read "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. Now, read the overview of different types of literary criticism and two journal articles analyzing Jackson's story. Then, engage in a conversation about the merits of the articles.
