  • Define your research argument, main points, and alternative perspective
  • Practice integrating and citing a source within your text

Week Eight Assignments:

Part One: Defining Your Argument

Post a quick overview (bullet points are okay) of your research argument, three or more main points you will be making, and the alternative perspective you will be including.

Part Two: Quoting Exercise

At this point you should be moving forward on writing your essay.

1- To ensure you are accurately integrating outside resources, please submit a sample paragraph from your essay in progress. Or, if you haven't started writing, create a mock paragraph, but use a source that you have located for your research essay.

2- Refer to the "Integrating Quotes" and the "They Say, I Say" handouts as you write your paragraph.

3- Use the Purdue Owl and Noodletools (SRJC Library) to create accurate in-text citations and a citation for the source.

4- Submit your paragraph for assessment and feedback. The goal of this assignment is to provide feedback on one integration of outside material so it is not done incorrectly throughout your essay.
