I have created a personal library of yoga classes on Youtube for this class! I hope you enjoy them.
Classes include stories of Hindu Mythology, and humbly honor the roots of yoga. I acknowledge that yoga poses are named after the characters in Hindu Mythology. The asana practice (the movement practice involving yoga postures) can be interpreted as a dance that tells a story. In each yoga video, I will celebrate, honor, and bring to life an archetype from Hindu Mythology. Each archetype reveres a pattern in nature and an existing or potential pattern in each of us. The practice of story telling is a way for the teacher to share, pass on, and acknowledge cultural teachings, and to honor the teachers that came before.
Be sure to honor your limits in yoga, and know that often I will give several options for certain poses so you can choose the option that does not require you to strain, but rather the option that feels the very best! Yoga is not meant to be competitive, rather it is meant to serve your body, mind, and spirit. I hope you enjoy today's video.
We acknowledge the Santa Rosa Junior College Santa Rosa campus is on the traditional territory and homelands of the Pomo People, and the Petaluma Campus is on the traditional territory and homelands of the Coast Miwok People, and honor with gratitude the land itself and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations.
