Purpose:

The purpose of this is to help give you a better understanding of what it takes to maintain a medical record and give you an introduction to medical documentation by NDTR and RDNs.

What to gain:

  • What are the common medical abbreviations?
  • What is a diet manual, what does it consist of and where would it be found?
  • What is a diet order? Who prescribes it and who has input?
  • What is a Tray card, how is it used and maintained?
  • What is the medical record and relevant rules/regulations on how it is maintained?
