Summary - Week 3

Recap

This week you should have learned about all the organs in your Gastrointestinal tract.  We learned the function of each one and how they work to digest your food.  We also learned 3 different ways that food can be digested.  Finally we learned about absorption and how it is different than digestion.  We learned about the small intestine that absorbs your food and how it is transported through your body.

We also learned about 2 things that can wrong in your GI tract, GERD and Peptic Ulcer Disease.

Looking Ahead

Next week we will start learning about the nutrients.  We will start with carbohydrates and looking at why we need this nutrient, where do we find it in food, how much do we need and what is the deal with low carbs?
