Silicone Mold Example 2

Provided below are photos showing the casting process using a silicone mold rather than latex. This type of silicone Links to an external site. is poured over the original carving rather than brushed on. Since it is poured, the student needed to build a clay wall on the board around their piece in order to keep the silicone maintained. 

In the second photo the silicone has been partially poured, and the student is pausing in order to remove air bubbles.
