Climate Action Night Overview
Climate Action Night-
This will be our 7th year for SRJC Climate Action Night (website) Links to an external site.Student groups present tri-fold posters about state bills that are making their way through the California Senate and/or Assembly, as well as selected climate-related local issues. The event will be "science fair style", where members of the public get to circulate among the student groups and learn about legislation and local campaigns, then write postcards to and call their local officials.
What students need to do :
- Attend Zoom training: : How to Influence State and Local Government
- ( Links to an external site.Zoom Registration Link. Links to an external site.) for mentors and students.
- (March 12th, 6:00-7:30pm Zoom) (1.5 hours)
- Work with 3-5 other students on a specific Senate or Assembly Bill ( to be assigned March 12th at Training)
- Make a digital slide show using CAN Slide Show template Links to an external site., 2025 (4-5 hours)
- Meet to practice presentations (1 hour)
- Prepare an email script for members of the public to use. (0.5 hours)
- Share CAN on social media (0.5 hrs)
- Attend the Climate Action Night on Thursday, April 24th from 4-7m (arriving at 4pm for organization, event starting at 5pm) ( ~ 3 hours)
