Self-Reflection Paper Assignment Description
Due: End of Module 4
Points Possible: 140
Before you can successfully launch a venture, you need to honestly assess whether you have the necessary traits and skills. If not, you will need to plan to either develop the necessary traits and skills or hire people who have them. This assignment will help you clarify your readiness to launch a new venture as an entrepreneur by helping you reflect on your traits, skills, and readiness.
Below, you will find links to several self-assessments. It is important to note that none of these assessments are perfect, and none of them will determine if you have the technical skills for your venture. For example, if you plan a food truck but don’t know how to cook, these assessments will not help you. They will, however, help you clarify your thinking about your venture launch and entrepreneurship in general. For this assignment, you will need to:
- Complete at least two of the self-assessments listed below.
- List the technical skills you have versus those needed to either start your venture or to start a venture you choose to use for this class. You will likely want to use this venture for the rest of the class assignments, so please choose carefully.
- Consider the demands and rewards of entrepreneurship as a potential career path.
Once you have completed the steps above, you will write a 3–5-page self-reflection paper. Your paper should include, at the minimum:
- A summary of the results of your self-assessments and your reflection on those answers. Do you agree with them? Disagree? Why?
- A discussion of your skills reflection. Do you have the skills necessary to start your venture? If not, how do you plan to deal with this skill deficit? Be specific.
- A reflection upon the demands and rewards of entrepreneurship and how those relate to your future plans to launch a venture. Please be sure to make use of course materials in this section. I need to see that you are reading the materials and class discussions. You can do this using cited quotations or clear application of course concepts within your paper.
Remember, there are no wrong or right answers in a self-reflection paper; what is necessary is to honestly self-reflect on yourself through the lens of the knowledge you are gaining in this course.
