Gores

Gores are vertical seams or panels in a skirt. Skirts can have 4 gores, 6 gores, 8 gores, 10 gores or even 12 gores!

Gores can be straight seams, they can be angled to add flare, and they can even be curved like in a tulip skirt. Gores can have pleats added to them as well.

Godets

Godets are triangular shaped pattern pieces that are added into a garment to create flare. They can be sewn into a seam or into a slash in the fabric.

Gussets

A gusset is a Triangle, Diamond, or Lens shaped panel that is inserted to give ease and comfort. The panel can be inserted into a seam, or a slash can be made into the area where the gusset is needed. Armhole gussets and crotch gussets are both common and help to increase the circumference of the armhole or crotch seam in an area that can be tight and restrictive in a garment.
