Syllabus: Grading Policy
Grading Policy
Click the “Grades” link in Canvas to keep track of your points. I grade your submitted assignments once a week and post grades and comments in the Canvas Gradebook.
Grading:
Exams 120 pts
Homework 60 pts
Quizzes 60 pts
Discussions 60 pts
Total = 300 pts
Grading is based on the total points you earned for individual assignments/quizzes/exams by the end of the semester, NOT the percentages or averages shown in Canvas. The percentage-based grade on Canvas is not accurate. I will figure out your final grade based on the following point values:
A |
90% |
270 points or more |
---|---|---|
B |
80% |
240 to 269 points |
C |
70% |
210 to 239 points |
D |
60% |
180 to 209 points |
Anything below 180 pts is an F.
Student Feedback
I will provide student feedback with every graded assignment and exam. This will usually be in the form of a rubric plus individual comments to help you make the necessary corrections so you can improve your work. I am always available to chat through zoom to discuss any assignment or anything else related to that class. I want you to succeed in this class and I am here to help as much as possible.
Pass‐No Pass (P/NP)
You may take this class P/NP. You must decide before the deadline, and add the option online with TLC or file the P/NP form with Admissions and Records. With a grade of C or better, you will get P.
You must file for the P/NP option by the proper date. Once you decide to go for P/NP, you cannot change back to a letter grade. If you are taking this course as part of a certificate program, you can probably still take the class P/NP. Check with a counselor to be sure.
