Write Your Complete Act I (Due Dec 2nd 11:59pm - Late Submission receive a ZERO)
Rewrite you first 10 pages and finish to the end of Act I (give or take 20 pages).
Ensure your Act I establishes the NORMAL WORLD and POSES the CHARACTER QUESTION - the internal question is posed (i.e. Will Annie recoup her self-esteem and take a chance on love?" Will Joker learn to stand up for himself?" "Will Dorothy learn how to say good-bye?" ).
Ensure your Act I POSES THE PLOT QUESTION (i.e "Will Annie succeed in throwing a successful bridal shower for her friend?" "Will Joker become a stand up comedian?" "Will Dorothy find a way back to Kansas?").
Remember these tips:
- Write to the audience that doesn’t want to read.
- Plenty of white space.
- Exclude Brick Walls
- Sentence Fragments are your best friend.
- One or two lines in each screen direction.
- Imply shots by describing active elements.
- Use descriptive words and powerful verbs.
