Zoonotic Diseases 

 You may or  may not be familiar with the Michelangelo painting from  the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. But it is often used in pop culture.

Here is a cartoon showing an ape and human reaching across the sky to touch each other in the same way that we see God reaching out to Adam in the Michelangelo painting. What is this cartoon trying to say about the relationship between humans and animals? Humans and other primates? About zoonotic diseases?

  1. Explain zoonoses to someone who hasn't taken this course
  2. Outline the conditions that lead to more diseases making the jump from animals to humans
  3. Describe the steps that could be taken to reduce the risk of zoonoses spreading widely in human populations.
