Meet Your Instructor
Hello -
I have been teaching Media 4 here at SRJC for a long time; long enough that the internet wasn't even considered a medium yet. It had just been opened to the public and pages contained words only - documents from the government or universities. But thanks to Tim Berners-Lee, we discovered a whole new world of information that included links, graphics, videos, and sound: digital media. While students are more skilled with adaptation to new media, I have had the distinct pleasure of starting from the beginning and progressing with technology advancements.
Having spent my childhood in Los Angeles, it was almost inevitable for me to develop a deep fascination with the world of media. With close relatives involved in the music and film industries, I accompanied them to sets. An early recording studio became my personal playground, where I would immerse myself in the magic of production and voice-overs. However, as time went on, Los Angeles gradually lost its allure, prompting me to make the grateful decision to relocate to San Francisco.
After settling in San Francisco, several years passed before I found myself returning to academia and enrolling at San Francisco State University. It was during my time there that I unexpectedly stumbled upon a newfound passion for teaching. Fueled by this revelation, I pursued my studies and successfully obtained my M.A. degree. Soon after, I had the privilege of joining the adjunct faculty at SRJC, where I could share my knowledge and enthusiasm with eager students.
In 2007, my husband's job required us to relocate to Reno. Initially, I was resistant to the idea, as I cherished my role as a classroom teacher and was deeply involved in both online and in-person instruction at the time. However, I consider myself incredibly fortunate, as the opportunity to teach online allowed me to maintain my connection with the esteemed faculty at SRJC. While my visits have become less frequent, I still cherish my affiliation with the college. Despite enjoying the Nevada environment, I do find myself missing the beauty and charm of Sonoma County.
I am readily available and easily reachable most anytime. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me via phone call or text at 707-486-2761, or through email at media4tchr@gmail.com.
