Reading the Syllabus

This is our Canvas-based class website.

Along with our textbook, this will be where you go to find our class materials.  This includes our class syllabus.

The class syllabus describes the course's goals, provides instructor contact information, and establishes the class policies and expectations.  This includes identifying our graded class assignments, our grading policy, and any extra-credit opportunities.

It's important to read a class syllabus as you start the course.  Taking a class without reading its syllabus is like playing a complicated game (e.g., chess) without ever learning the rules.  It's like exploring a wilderness without a map or navigation skills.

A syllabus isn't the only thing you need to do well, but it's a good place to start.

In fact, I recommend you reread the syllabus during the semester.  You're likely to notice details you missed before, and the policies and expectations are likely to make more sense as you experience the class.   But, whether or not you return to the syllabus, please do read it now.

If you look toward the left of this Canvas-based class site, you'll see navigation links.  The top one says "Home."  You click on that one to see our weekly modules (Just click on each module and see that week's recommended tasks and required assignments).  Below "Home," you'll see the "Syllabus" link.  Click on that to review our course syllabus.  Below "Syllabus," you'll see the "Grades" link.  Click on that to see your class grades so far.  But, first...
