Welcome! An Important Announcement!
Hello,
This is an asynchronous online class. While I will be available for in-person and Zoom-based office visits, there are no class meetings.
I encourage you to check out the syllabus and "modules." The syllabus provides key course information and policies. The modules provide a semester schedule. Just start clicking on modules and see what happens.
Each module will identify a calendar week's topic, tasks (eg, readings and practice), and graded assignments. The topics and required readings are official. It's what you'll see when the semester starts. So are the graded assignments. Even the due dates are official.
I've been teaching hybrid and online courses for over 20 years, and have learned to recognize some quirks with online learning. For example, a class website like this is similar to a big textbook. It has many pages. Sometimes a page includes an outdated reference. I pride myself on my dedication to reviewing, but sometimes outdated info goes unnoticed and causes some confusion. For example, I've changed my approach to extra credit since the pandemic (See our syllabus for that and other class policies). And I think I've removed all references to the old policy, but a detail may have been missed somewhere on the site. The bottom line: don't hesitate to ask me about a confusing detail or possible mistake. I'll promptly and happily clarify and/or correct it.
I hope this helps and I look forward to meeting you.
