Introduction - North America

In this course, we are defining North America as the countries of Canada and the United States. Physically, Mexico and parts of Central America are part of North America. Our definition of this region is, in this instance, based on culture. Canada and the U.S.  have similar histories, population characteristics and cultural characteristics. Mexico and Central America have more in common with each other culturally than they do with the U.S. and Canada and they will be studied in the next section of the course: Latin America.
