Material Covered on Each Final:
Final Part 1:
Chapter 9: Hypothesis Testing with a Single Sample. Test a population mean with a population standard deviation, test a mean without a population standard deviation (will have sample standard deviation) and test a population proportion.
Chapter 10: Hypothesis Testing with Two Samples. Test two population means with the population standard deviations, test two means without the population standard deviations (will have sample standard deviations) and test teo population proportions.
Chapter 12: Linear correlation. Scatter Plots, correlation coefficient, line of least squares regression, hypothesis test for “significant linear correlation”
Chapter 11: Chi-Squared Hypothesis tests; Goodness of Fit test and Tests for independence.
Chapter 13: One Way ANOVA tests.
Final Part 2 (In Person):
Chapter 1: Sampling designs, Types or variables/data (Quantative Discrete, Quantative Continuous, and Qualitative) and level of measurement of variables (nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio.) Frequency and relative frequency charts
Chapter 2: Data Display: bar graphs, pie charts, pareto charts, time series charts, line graphs, histograms, stem and leaf plots, box and whisker plots. Measures of center; mean, median, and mode. Location of data; percentiles and quartiles. Measures of spread; range, variance/variation (population and sample), standard deviation (population and sample).
Chapter 3: Probability. Simple probability, probability of “AND”, “OR”, and conditional probabilities. Independent and mutually exclusive events. Probabilities found from contingency tables.
Chapter 4: Discrete Probability Distributions. Relative Frequency Distributions; the ones with the tables like the insurance or gambling game examples. Calculating expected value (mean) and standard deviation of them. Binomial Distribution, calculating probabilities and the expected value (mean) and standard deviation from them. Binomialcdf and binomialpdf programs.
Chapter 5: Continuous Probability Distributions, the Uniform distribution. Calculating the probability distribution function, probabilities, drawing these probabilities. Percentiles, mean and standard deviation.
Chapter 6: Normal Probability Distribution. Calculate probabilities, draw them, calculate percentiles, Normalcdf program. The Empirical Rule to estimate probabilities and percentiles.
Chapter 7: Sampling Distribution. The Central limit theorems; for means from a normal distribution, for means from a non-normal distribution, for sample sums. Problems from all of these distributions.
Chapter 8: Confidence Intervals. For a population mean when you have the population standard deviation, for a population mean when you don’t have the population standard deviation (but you will have the sample standard deviation) for a population proportion. Estimate sample size for problems where you would want to estimate a mean or estimate a population proportion with a preliminary estimate and without a preliminary estimate for p.
