"The Power of Creativity": Group Summary Practice

Directions: Below are the title and sentences of a summary of “The Power of Creativity” (pp. 25-26). 

                    Number the title and sentences (1-8) to put the ideas in the same order as the original reading.

• William continues to educate people and give them hope.
•   In the article “The Power of Creativity” by Laurie Blass and Mari Vargo, the authors explain how William Kamkwamba used the power of creativity to find a solution to an energy problem in his village and brought hope to the people of Africa.
•   William found an instruction book in the library that included instructions for building a windmill.
•   He built his first windmill to provide electricity for his village and then an additional windmill that brought water up from underground.
•   William’s family could not afford to send him to school, but he wanted to continue his education.
•   He started building a windmill, but discovered he did not have the things he needed, so he went to a junkyard.
• Malawi had a severe drought and many people began to starve to death.

3. You will share your paragraph with your groupmates in the next class. You don't need to submit your paragraph to this assignment. 
4. In your group, you will write a group doc with:
   1. 1. the sentences in the correct order
      2. correct paragraph formatting
      3. all underlined words should be paraphrased, using synonyms 
5. Your group will share your group paragraph with Pat.
