How is this course organized? (2)
The semester is broken into 4 Units:
Unit 1: Chemistry, molecules, and cell structures and cell metabolism (cell respiration and photosynthesis)

- Week 1-6
- Lecture Exam I: Chemistry through membranes
- Lecture Exam II: Cell structures through photosynthesis
- Lab Exam: will cover Understanding Science, Enzymes, Water, Microscope labs
Unit 2: Gene expression, cell division, genetics, and evolution

- Weeks 7-10
- We will cover the same material in lab as lecture, therefore there will be a single exam for both the lecture and lab.
- Lecture Exam III: will be taken during lab on the 11th week.
Unit 3: Organisms, plants, animals, digestion, immune system

- Weeks 10-14
- Lecture Exam IV: will cover the above material as well as the material from the Plant Lab.
Unit 4: Ecology: Ecosystems, Communities, and Populations

- Weeks 14-17
- Lecture Exam V: This exam will be given during finals week as part of your final exam
Finals Week: December 13th at 10AM

- There will be two components to your Final Exam
- Ecology exam (see above)
- Cumulative Final Exam (Multiple Choice)
Modules
This course is organized in modules. Each week will have a module. Within each module, you will typically find the following

- 1-2 content pages with
- links to the readings (no textbook required), videos or other material
- quizzes on the reading- due BEFORE that day's lecture.
- quizzes are open note and you have 3 attempts.

Lab page with

- A pre-lab assignment and quiz to prepare for/review labs
- quizzes are open notes and you have 3 attempts
- A post-lab quiz or a post-lab write up.
- these will be due by midnight the following week. This means that you can work on it during the week, come to the next lab to ask questions and then turn it in that night.
