Graphing Basics
To-Do Date: Aug 23 at 1:00pmGraphing Basics
One part of the scientific process is presenting data using graphs. In this class, we will examine lots of graphed data as well as producing our own graphs. We will primarily use two types of graphs:
- Bar Graphs - used when the independent variable is divided into different categories
- Line Graphs - used when the independent variable changes on a continuous scale, such as time, temperature, or elevation.
Your goals for this unit are to understand when to use a bar or line graph, and how to interpret these two types of graphs.
For more information on when to use these two types of graphs, watch this video on whether to display zombie apocalypse data using a bar or line graph. INTERACTIVE: Determine the type of graph to make from ZOMBIE data! Bar vs. Line
