Zoonoses, COVID and Vaccines

The cartoon shows Noah's ark with some animals in the main boat and a ''life raft'' filled with all the bird species.  Noah says to his son, ''The first time one of them sneezes, cut the rope."  Why are they worried about a bird sneezing on them? What is the danger from another species? (And why are they picking on the birds?)

In lecture we learned about the immune system, and in lab we will apply that information to emerging diseases such as COVID.  We will break up the information into two sections

1. Zoonoses ( diseases that jump from animals to humans)

2. Vaccines (medications to prevent infection)
