- Available Jan 7, 2023 at 12am - Apr 23, 2023 at 11:30pm
In Week 5 of the semester, we learned about cell signaling and used diabetes as our example. You can go back and review that material
We are now going to integrate that information into what you have learned about negative feedback loops, homeostasis, and BG (Blood Glucose) regulation. Remember that the core concept for this section of the course is the Biological Organization; learning how to integrate information from different scales/levels of organization. This activity will require that you integrate
-
- Cell membrane structure (receptor proteins, transport proteins, phospholipid bilayer)
- Cell structures ( cytoskeleton, vesicles)
- Tissue functions (blood glucose, blood transport of hormones)
- Organ functions (liver, pancreas)
- Organ systems (digestive system, endocrine system)
Assignment
Download each of these handouts and answer the questions to the best of your ability. I will check them in class- full points for doing the work, not necessary to be correct- we will go over them in class.
