Grading, Feedback, & Late Work
To-Do Date: Jan 20 at 11:59pmAssignments: Weighted Grading
I have organized all graded material into one of eight categories. Each of these categories will contribute to your final grade but not equally. Here is the weighted contribution for each
-
- Content: Quizzes, Assignments, Discussions: 35%
- Unit Assessments: 30% of your grade
- Microgreens: 10%
- Nature Journal: 10%
- Scientific Claims Assessment 10%
- Misc: 5%
At the end of the semester, grades will be assigned using the following scale: A = 90-100%, B = 80-89%, C = 70-79%, D = 60-69%, F = <60%, no curves or rounding.
Grades on individual assignments will be available in Canvas.
Many assignments include a grading rubric. Please review the rubric before submitting your work to ensure you have addressed all the required elements of the assignment. I encourage you to review the feedback.
If you missed a few points, don't fret—use the feedback to improve for next time.
Late & Missed Work
I know many you are juggling work and family on top of your course load. There are a lot of small assignments for this class, and to best help you complete the course successfully,
-
- I ask that you strive to meet deadlines, including the interactive elements of the course like Zoom classes and discussion forums
- I understand that life happens and will try to work with you if you are falling behind.
- There will be late penalties; human nature being what it is, this will help keep us on track!
- I've purposely built the course to have many low point value assignments so that no one piece of work will make or break your grade
- If you completely miss one or two small assignments, don't fret, but if life events interrupt your work in this class for more than a week, please contact me as soon as possible so I can best help you stay on track to succeed in the course.
