Attendance, Participation

To-Do Date: Jan 20 at 11:59pm

This course will be taught as a mixture of synchronous ( meeting at the same time together) and asynchronous (working on your own during the week).

Asynchronous Instruction

On Tuesdays  we will not meet at our scheduled class time.   Instead, That time is set aside so that  you can through the activities included in the modules posted on Canvas on your own time.  For these days, attendance is not marked by your body in a class, but rather by your participation within the class activities.

While you may do the activities on your own time, note that there is a required completion date for each module.  This ensure students are moving along the course at a pace that will allow them to succeed in finishing the content, and also to ensure that students move through the material more-or-less on the same schedule to ensure a common base of knowledge for discussions.

Meetings via Zoom

We will be meeting Thursday's from 9:30-11AM as a class in order to either to go over that week's content. I will use the Unit Assessment Questions for that week as the basis for our conversation. In order to get the  most out of our class time, come to class having done the week's content assignments and attempted the Unit Assessment Questions.

  • Plan to have your microphone and cameras on.  It is hard to have quality interactions with a blank computer screen, so be ready to have your camera on and engage in conversation with your classmates and me.
  • I will take attendance on these days

I understand many of you are juggling a lot right now, perhaps with work, roommates or kids at home.  Do your best to set-up in a distraction-free area, but know that I understand if other people or pets wander into the room.

Lab Meetings

Once a week we will meet for our lab activities. The class is divided into two groups; those that meet on

Tuesday from 12-3pm

Thursday from 12-3pm

Since this course fulfills the laboratory science requirement for transfer, we need to actually meet in lab. You are required to attend your lab; these are not optional. Missing more than 2 lab meetings will result in a 10% drop in your grade.
